Reading for fun (mostly mysteries) is a guilty pleasure after years reading books and journals for my academic career. However, I can’t seem to break the daily news habit despite its effect on my blood pressure. Ways I’ve found to stay grounded include volunteering in the community garden and working for an organization that advocates for foster children. I also try to walk several miles a day and, despite an absence of musical skill, listen to both jazz and classical. I’m anxious to share an appreciation of fine wine and good food with new friends and neighbors who practice living in community with one another.  Although cohousing is a new venture, it isn’t an entirely new concept for me. (I currently live in a coop building in Brooklyn, NY.) When my daughter in Houston introduced me to Cohousing there, it felt like a natural next step and I’m looking forward to settling in.
