Sharron Cox is a fifth-generation Texan whose ancestors made it to this fair land when it was still known as Tejas, which singer-songwriter Shake Russell says means “friend.”  She grew up on the mainland of Galveston County and knew the short-cut through the refineries so that she could be on the beach in 10 minutes.  After earning degrees at both Texas A&M in College Station and the University of Texas in Austin, she eventually made her way back to southeast Texas and settled in Houston more than thirty-five years ago.  After stints in banking and real estate, Sharron landed in the health care industry, spending most of her career in health care policy, working on issues related to access to care and the uninsured.  Re-directed by a higher “calling,” she has been in ordained ministry for eleven years and loves listening to people, celebrating their joys, and sitting with them in the ashes of their lives.  She loves Houston...its food, its arts, its nature, its diversity, and, most of all, its people!
