Ten years ago I envisioned forming a community for family and friends - long BEFORE I realized that intentional communities were already thriving worldwide! During my time off from work during COVID, I read co-housing books and explored different communities in Asheville, NC and CO. I more recently settled on CO when I found a new community forming (Blue Columbine) in the Denver area as my heart has always loved being the Western United States. I was raised in FL and lived/worked out west for a few years before moving to in the early 90's. I HAD no plan to retire in TX.....but then I toured Cohousing Houston and started to have second thoughts about completely leaving Houston! With 2 young adult sons who plan to live/work in TX and the wonderful friends I've made over the years......maybe I should consider keeping one foot in Houston during the more "gentle months" of the year?
Though I love "nesting" when home with my 14 year old rescued Golden Retriever, I've been a wanderlust from a young age. Besides traveling, I enjoy hiking, dogs, cooking, gardening, gentle yoga, travel journaling, being in nature and public radio programming. I love the idea of a community that looks out for each other - where members can gather for potluck dinners or Friday night movies, yet still retreat to the privacy of their own homes at the end of the day. In reading your bios, it's obvious each person brings their own unique talents and gifts to your community, making it a place of connection, support and shared purpose.
When I'm not commuting back and forth between Clear Lake and IAH in my 2300 lb Prius, I offset my carbon savings flying the 650,000 lb Boeing 777 internationally for a legacy carrier.
